Access to this website and the use of information contained on it is governed by the terms and conditions set out below. These terms and conditions are important and are for the protection of both you and Killarney Credit Union Limited. Please take the time to read the terms and conditions carefully. 1.  Killarney Credit Union Details

We are Killarney Credit Union Limited or registered address: Beech Road, Killarney, Co. Kerry. We are regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland. We own and operate this website, and provide some of the services of our Credit Union on and through it.

 

 

2.  These Terms

We provide and make available and you use and access, the website and services on it subject to these Terms, the Privacy Statement, our Cookies Policy and where you register to use our services, our CU Online Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to these Terms please do not use the website.

By browsing the website, registering for CU Online or accessing or using CU Online or the Online Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

If you register for CU Online or access or use CU Online or the Online Service, you agree to also be bound by the CU Online Terms also.

These Terms are separate and supplemental to any other agreement between you and us in relation, for instance, to

(i) any of your Accounts with us;

(ii) any loan taken out by you from us; and

(iii) our CU Online Terms; and

(iv) our Privacy Statement, all of which you are also bound by where applicable. Your access and use of the website is always subject to these Terms.

We reserve the right to vary these Terms at any time. If we do so, the updated terms will be posted on the Terms page when the alteration is made. By using the website after that, you agree to these revised Terms.

We are not in breach of these Terms or liable to you if there is any total or partial failure of performance of any of our duties and obligations resulting from any act or matter beyond our reasonable control. This may include where such results from any act of God, fire, act of government or state, war, civil commotion, insurrection, embargo, inability to communicate with third parties for whatever reason, failure of any computer dealing or settlement system, failure of or delay in the transmission of communications, prevention from or hindrance in obtaining any energy or other supplies, labour disputes of whatever nature, late or mistaken payment by an agent or any other reason (whether or not similar in kind to any of the above) beyond our reasonable control.

The exercise by us of any of our rights under these Terms is without prejudice to any of our other rights and remedies. Neither of us has relied upon, or has any remedies in respect of, any representations, terms or conditions except those set out in these Terms. This does not exclude any liability for fraud and/or fraudulent misrepresentations.

 

16.  Governing Law

The laws of Ireland apply to the Terms (and any matter or dispute arising out of or in connection with them) and the courts of Ireland have jurisdiction in connection with the Terms and all such matters and disputes.

 

17.  Definitions

The masculine gender includes the feminine and neuter and the singular number include the plural and vice versa and words importing persons include firms or companies. The section headings to the provisions are inserted for convenience of reference only and are not a part of, and do not or affect the construction or interpretation of, the Terms.

The “Terms” means the terms and conditions set out in this document, and such other terms and conditions as may be added to or substituted for them from time to time pursuant to these Terms. “You” means the person accessing or using the website. Otherwise, “we” and any capitalised terms which are not defined in these Terms have the meaning given to them in the CU Online Terms.

We collect personal information from you at various stages for example when you open an account, lodge or withdraw, apply for a loan, insurance services, use online banking services or look for advice on products or services. We also collect information from others such as the Irish Credit Bureau (ICB) or the Consumer Credit Register (CCR) or through our website, apps, social media sites, discussion forums, CCTV footage.

 

How we use information

We use this information to:

Make recommendations about the products or services you hold with us.

Decide what products or services may be suitable for you.

Make decisions based on the information provided by you.

Decide on how we deliver member information to you.

We may use other companies and individuals to work on our behalf to give us information to help us make decisions. For example, analyse data, collect debts, process information, or conduct market research. We have signed agreements with all third parties to whom we give information to be registered a data processor and keep all member information confidential.

 

How you can interact with us

We try and make sure that the information we have about you in accurate and up to date. Sometimes, we may ask you to verify information to check if it is still accurate. If your information is inaccurate and not current please let us know and we can change it. Members are encouraged to update their details should their email, phone number and address details, this is particularly important for the online access service. Data held that is in excess of requirements if volunteered, can be deleted and also if no longer necessary. Data should not be held for longer than is necessary for the purpose(s) for which they were obtained.

 

Consent to Use and Disclosure

Under the Data Protection Acts, 1998 and 2003 (the DPA), the Credit Union Act 1997 (as amended) and the new General Data Protection Regulations.

I hereby consent to Killarney Credit Union Limited to processing personal data that it may in its possession concerning me (including disclosure to third parties). I note that this data may include sensitive personal data, such as information about my  health, and credit rating, within the meaning of the legislation, the processing of which requires my explicit consent.

For the purpose of assessing my application for membership, assessing my loan application, applications for new products or services which I may make to you and also for the general administration and monitoring of any accounts I have with Killarney Credit Union, that I give consent.

Under the Data Protection Acts, you have the right to see personal information that we hold on you. You can obtain this in writing to the Data Protection Lead, Killarney Credit Union, Beech Road, Killarney. If at any time you decide that you no longer wish us to hold the personal information provided, or in the case that the information changes or becomes inaccurate, you should notify us by phone, email or post using the contact details on the site and we will remove or rectify the information as soon as practicable and in any event within 30 days of a request being received.

We may extend the time to respond by a further two months if the request is complex or if we have received a number of requests from the individual. We will let you know without undue delay and within one month of receiving your request and explain why the extension is necessary.

School Savings Scheme

Killarney Credit Union operates a school savings scheme in a number of local national schools. A staff member regularly visits the school and collect money from students and lodges it to their accounts. 

At the start of the school year, a CU representative will visit the school and open accounts, you will be notified of what documentation is required.

You can at any time, come in and join your child up as a member of the credit union. Information on Childrens Account is here.
